The Cost Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates and quotations for precision-machined components used in aerospace mechanical seal applications. This role reviews customer drawings, specifications, bills of material, routings, material requirements, outside processing, and quality requirements to determine manufacturing cost, lead time, and pricing inputs.
Key responsibilities include estimating CNC machining time, setup time, tooling, materials, heat treat, coatings, inspection, special processes, and subcontracted operations. The estimator works closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Quality, and Sales to ensure quotes are accurate, competitive, and aligned with aerospace customer requirements.
Ideal candidates should understand machining processes, aerospace drawings, tight-tolerance components, exotic alloys, and manufacturing. Experience with, cost models, routers, and supplier quotes is preferred.

- Estimate labor, material, machine time, outside processing, tooling, and inspection costs.
- Coordinate with vendors for special processes and purchased components.
- Support make/buy decisions and quote reviews.
- Maintain estimating standards and historical cost data.
- Assist Sales and Engineering with technical clarification during quoting.
- Ensure estimates reflect aerospace quality and documentation requirements.
Qualifications
- Experience estimating precision-machined parts.
- Knowledge of CNC turning, milling, grinding, EDM, and inspection processes.
- Ability to read aerospace drawings, tolerances, GD&T, and specifications.
- Familiarity with aerospace components, or regulated manufacturing preferred.
